Family Survive in Gaza — And One Day, Escape

My name is Khalil, and Im a husband, a father of four, and a son caring for my elderly parents. I live in Gaza, where life has collapsed under the weight of endless war, siege, and unimaginable suffering.

In April 2025, our family home was destroyed during yet another wave of bombardment.

We had already fled, but we escaped with nothing but the clothes we were wearing — no bags, no belongings, not even our children’s toys. We left behind everything we had built over a lifetime.

A month later, it was all reduced to rubble. Our shelter, our memories, and any sense of stability — all gone in seconds.

We used to live in a shared home with my extended family. My wife and I always dreamed of building a small, private home — a peaceful space of our own where we could raise our children with dignity. That dream now feels painfully distant.

Today, our reality is survival.

I am the sole provider for a family of eight, including:

The Crisis We’re Living

Food has become a nightmare.

A bag of flour — enough for just one week — now costs more than $700.

Basic vegetables, when available, cost up to $23 per kilo.

There are days when I have nothing to feed my children.

To get clean water, I walk 9 kilometers every day and stand in line for over 3 hours, just to collect enough for one day.

We have no electricity, and solar panels are a luxury we cannot afford. We live in darkness — physically and emotionally.
